Tiger Airways has returned to Tasmania, a move that will bring over 5000 visitors to Hobart from Melbourne on a weekly basis.
“We are thrilled to be back,” said Tiger Airways’ Commercial Director Carly Brear. “We’re glad to play our part in boosting tourism by offering consistently great value fares to and from Tasmania.
Tiger Airways resumed twice-daily flights from Melbourne yesterday (Nov 1) and the Premier of Tasmania, Lara Giddings said it was good to see the airline back in the state.
“We warmly welcome the return of Tiger Airways to Tasmania,” she said. “The return of regular flights comes at a great time for the State as we enter into the peak tourism season.
“These additional services will help us take advantage of Tasmania’s growing reputation as a must-see tourist destination.”
The Tiger Airbus A320 flights have been welcomed by Mantra Group CEO Bob East.
“Mantra Group is delighted to welcome Tiger Airways flights to Hobart,” he told HM. “Tasmanian tourism relies heavily on flight access and we have seen a resurgence of activity in this region.
The flights could not have come at a better time for Mantra, East said.
“Our Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge and Peppers Launceston properties are boasting record levels of enquiry at the moment,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tiger also launched twice-daily Adelaide flights on November 1, marking the airline’s return to South Australia.
“Tiger’s return provides a greater choice of flights for our customers,” said Adelaide Airport’s Managing Director, Mark Young.
“This benefits South Australians heading interstate and provides local tourism opportunities by attracting more visitors to SA. These new flights are a further boost to the ongoing growth of Adelaide Airport’s business across our domestic and international sectors.”
