The former Outback Pioneer Hotel has reopened as the Outback Hotel and Lodge at Ayers Rock Resort following a multi-million-dollar refurbishment led by Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia.
The property’s first refurb in more than 20 years sees the addition of new furniture and soft furnishings, upgraded guestrooms and a major renovation of the swimming pool and surrounding public areas.
“We are delighted to welcome visitors back to our new-look Outback Hotel and Lodge,” said Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia CEO, Matthew Cameron-Smith.
“This hotel has always had a warm, welcoming atmosphere and is the place to come after a day’s touring at Uluru to share stories over a cold drink and a BBQ. We’re really excited with the repositioning and can’t wait to welcome back families, backpackers and groups of travellers.”
All 214 guestrooms have been upgraded with the addition of new ensuite bathrooms with walk-in showers, new bed and bathroom linen, as well as new carpets and curtains in the earthy tones of the Uluru landscape.
Large prints from Indigenous artist Delma Forbes, inspired by the desert landscape and its ancient landforms, have also been added to rooms.
Rooms are now kitted out with smart TVs, key-card entry, fridges, USB chargers, free Wi-Fi and air-conditioning.
Dining options include the Bough House, Outback Kiosk and Outback BBQ and Bar, and guests have access to all the facilities at Ayers Rock Resort including touring, restaurants and the Gallery of Central Australia.
