Accor’s fastest-growing midscale brand Mercure is making a return to Far North Queensland with the opening of Mercure Cairns following a multi-million-dollar upgrade and rebrand of ibis Styles Cairns.
Mercure Cairns opens with 75 spacious guestrooms, a pool deck and new modern Australian restaurant, The Stanley, on the ground floor.
Accor Pacific Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Derry, said the hotel brings a quality offering to the midscale traveller.
“Holding appeal for both leisure and business travellers, Mercure Cairns has been tailored to suit travellers who value quality accommodation, incredible guest experiences, great dining and leading design,” she said.
“Mercure is the largest and fastest growing global midscale hotel brand in Australia, and, with its genuine warmth and excellent guest service, the popularity of Mercure Cairns is assured.”
The hotel design, by Scott Carver, is inspired by the surrounding nature and features ‘cool and coastal’ aesthetics.
Intended to serve as a meeting place for guests and members of the local community, the hotel’s lobby, restaurant and outdoor dining and lounge area provide ample opportunities to socialise, work, eat, and relax.
The Stanley offers a refined but casual dining experience, serving up modern Australian fare using fresh and local produce in a stylish space with indoor and outdoor settings.
Mandala Hospitality Group Manager, Murray Emerton, is confident the new offering will appeal to a wide variety of guests.
“We are excited to be working with Accor to bring Mercure Cairns to Far North Queensland and feel the refurbishment of this asset will provide a new look to the Cairns market for our leisure and corporate guests,” she said.
