Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street has opened a new 1930s-inspired guest lounge this week, known as the Queen Adelaide lounge.
Located on the mezzanine level of the recently restored Equity Chambers building, the Queen Adelaide Lounge invites Hilton Honors Diamond Members and guests staying in its King Heritage Rooms, Premium Rooms and above, to enjoy tea, coffee and snacks all day, and alcoholic beverages and canapes in the evening.
Award-winning architects Bates Smart designed the lounge to feel like a modern-day members club that celebrates the building’s heritage architecture and elaborate detailing, with timber panelling, mirrors, curved wall lights, and a large mural by artist David Lee Pereira.
The lounge is split into three zones – buffet, central and end space – each with its own unique furniture and finishes.
“We are delighted to be opening the Queen Adelaide lounge space to our guests, and believe it is one of the most elegant and well-considered offerings for business and leisure travellers in Melbourne,” said Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street General Manager, Adrian Teh.
“It is completely unique, and the Bates Smart design brings a historic part of our city back to life for a contemporary audience nearly 100 years after it was first built.”
The building’s original lifts from the 1930s have been brought back into service as part of the hotel’s multi-million-dollar restoration and can transport guests to a modernist-style heritage staircase to continue their journey to the mezzanine level on foot.
