Nearly 250 new guest rooms have been added to the inventory at Cordis Auckland, with the official opening today of the property’s new tower after three years of planning and construction.
The new 17-storey tower and its new facilities makes Cordis Auckland the largest hotel in New Zealand in terms of room count, which now numbers 640. Additional facilities in the new tower include a variety of new and flexible event and conference facilities boasting natural light and a variety of configurations including a private outdoor area and state-of-the-art boardroom.
An expansion of the hotel’s ‘Eight’ restaurant has also been enabled through the new tower, joining up with the existing facility to create space for an additional 70 patrons.
Cordis Auckland describes its new guest rooms as being “versatile in design with multi-purpose inter-connecting room options, ideal for families and groups offering flexibility, functionality and style”.
The new Chairman’s Suite on the top floor is one of Auckland’s largest accommodations and has been designed to ensure the hotel is top of mind for visiting dignitaries and celebrities. Guests in the 248 square metre suite can enjoy direct entry lift access from a private VIP entrance, entering into a multi-room layout featuring a separate dining room, marble bathroom with circular soaking tub. A fireplace and outdoor balcony featuring a fire pit is also available for guests in the premium key.
Guests in the Pinnacle Tower can enjoy a variety of views over the city skyline and out to city landmarks including the Harbour Bridge, One Tree Hill, Rangitoto, Mount Eden and Sky Tower.
The new tower also includes an art gallery of locally commissioned pieces curated by Coupland Cormack, featuring 40 items from a variety of Kiwi contemporary artists specialising in a variety of artistic mediums and linking the new tower to the main hotel building.
Cordis Auckland Managing Director, Franz Mascarenhas, said he was delighted to be able to open the new tower after a long but ultimately rewarding development process.
“We are looking forward to welcome guests to the Pinnacle Tower where they can revel in spectacular city skyline and Waitematā Harbour views and enjoy the warm hospitality Cordis, Auckland is so renowned for,” he said.
“Guests are invited to experience heartfelt service with a renewed sense of Kiwi spirit in a fully immersive local experience.”
