Intrust Super’s popular Chief Executive Officer, Brendan O’Farrell, has announced he will depart the business after a stellar 17 years at the helm when the merger with Hostplus is complete later this year.
Intrust Super and Hostplus are set to join forces on November 26, 2021, creating a mega-fund for the hospitality sector and O’Farrell has announced he hasn’t sought a role with the merged entity, which will be led by Hostplus CEO, David Elia.
O’Farrell has expressed his gratitude for his time with the Fund and the industry, during which Intrust Super was one of the biggest supporters of the Australian hotel sector.
“I’ve enjoyed my time with Intrust Super immensely and am grateful to have worked in such a dynamic part of the financial services industry,” he said.
“I also feel very fortunate to have delivered such an important financial service to the Hospitality industry – some of the hardest workers in the country who form a big part of Australian culture.
“I’m extremely grateful for the support and guidance provided by the Board over many years and proud of the exceptional Intrust Super Team and excited about the journey these individuals will have, ensuring strong performance and service delivery to members in the future.”
Intrust Super Chair, Gary Bullock, led the tributes for O’Farrell, acknowledging his strong leadership and integrity which has driven organisational success over the past 17 years.
“Brendan is an exceptional leader – his strategic, commercial, and relationship-building strengths have been a key platform for the Fund’s success, as has been his ability to build and drive an innovative and dedicated team,” he said.
“I have no doubt his skillset will ensure that future success and accolades flow to any organisation he may choose to represent in the future.
“Brendan always puts Fund members first, and this philosophy has delivered members strong long- term performance and exceptional service delivery – a blend which we believe made Intrust Super a truly unique proposition,” he said.
Intrust Super have been major sponsors of the HM Awards and the Australasian Hotel Industry Conference and Exhibition (AHICE) for well over a decade and the HM team would like to congratulate Brendan on a stellar career and thank him for his immense support for our publication and events in his 17 years at the business.
