Sydney property developer, Conquest, has signed a management agreement with IHG to rebrand two of its hotels in the inner-western suburbs of Burwood and Parramatta under the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn marques.
Opening to guests this week, the new Crowne Plaza Sydney Burwood and Holiday Inn & Suites Parramatta Marsden Street see the branding incorporated into two design-led, chic properties designed for leisure and business travellers, with neither hotel being more than two years old. The latter marks the debut of a Holiday Inn Suites concept in Australia.
Crowne Plaza Sydney Burwood is located around 10kms from the city centre and features a European grill restaurant, meeting facilities and a fitness centre, while the rooftop offers guests access to a swimming pool and bar with views to the Sydney skyline. The latest signing marks the fourth new Crowne Plaza to open in Australia in 2020, following highly anticipated openings this year in Hobart, Sydney and Adelaide.
Slightly further west, Holiday Inn & Suites Parramatta Marsden Street is located close to Parramatta Westfield and features a ground floor café and guest fitness centre.
IHG Vice President, Development – Australasia, Japan & Pacific, Abhijay Sandilya, said he was looking forward to building a long-lasting and successful partnership with Conquest.
“We are so thrilled to welcome Conquest’s two amazing hotels to the IHG family, expanding our presence in Greater Sydney and continuing our strongest year of hotel openings on record in Australasia.
“Conquest is a brilliant operator and we are honoured that they have chosen the world-class Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn brands, with the power of the IHG system, to accelerate their success into the future.”
Conquest CEO, Michael Akkawi, said the company’s hotels in Burwood and Parramatta had become local icons in their own right, building loyal followings among clients but that the time was right to grow by partnering with highly established distribution channels.
“These modern hotels are perfect fits for the Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn brands, and we look forward to a successful partnership with IHG, bringing our hotels to life in new and exciting ways from today,” Akkawi said.
