After much preparation, anticipation and excitement, Event Hospitality has today opened the doors to QT Auckland – its third location for the QT brand in New Zealand.
Led by General Manager, Doron Whaite, the 150-room hotel is the tenth in the brand portfolio across Australia and New Zealand and is the third to open in the ‘Land of the Long White Cloud’ alongside QT Wellington and QT Queenstown.
True to its quirky and eclectic nature, QT Auckland features a menagerie of abstract art and artefacts envisaged by Ilya Volykhine, Louise McRrae and Max Patté throughout guest rooms and public spaces, with others sourced by creative agency, Misterwolf. Two feature pieces include glass-blown lamps and resin soap dishes which guests will find in each room. The lobby features a gigantic hanging sculpture by NSW artist, Minka Gillian.
QT Auckland’s food and beverage options include Esther and the sixth-floor Rooftop at QT which features views across the Auckland harbour. Executive Chef, James Laird, backed by celebrity foodie, Sean Connolly, has designed a Mediterranean inspired menu featuring exotic dishes full of flavours representing southern France, Sicily and Morocco.
Guests will feel complete with their Esther dining experience as they walk away with a packet of tomato seeds to plant at home.
“From fashion to art and music, no detail was spared in bringing QT’s signature service to life here in Auckland,” said Whaite.
“Throughout the hotel, including Esther and Rooftop at QT, there are so many carefully considered components to discover, all pointing to a central narrative of unearthing hidden treasure.”
Guests arriving at the hotel will be greeted by the hotel’s Director of Chaos, who acts as something of a roving concierge, armed with local knowledge to help guests uncover the hidden elements of Auckland. These team members are dressed by Maggie Marilyn and feature a custom look by makeup brand Aleph, with support from Dyson.
