Ovolo Group has named Mark Stanford as the opening General Manager of Mamaka by Ovolo – the company’s maiden foray into Indonesia and the third country to join the network.
Stanford is an Australian national and highly experienced as a pre-opening GM, with five hotels and resorts under his belt as pre-opening GM and three in Bali. He brings more than 25 years’ experience in resort operations, specialising particularly in alpine and luxury resorts.
Speaking of his new appointment, Stanford said it was a great pleasure to have the opportunity to open the first Ovolo property in Indonesia.
“Mamaka by Ovolo will be the first urban lifestyle resort in Bali for the modern traveller, and together with our next-level culinary scene from the Pan Asian street food at Street 32 as well as the first and highest rooftop beach club haven with an amazing view.”
Ovolo said Stanford was selected for his experience and record of defining company direction, developing new and repeat business and meeting objectives. His ‘disruptive’ approach to guest experiences was also a key factor and fits perfectly with Ovolo’s track record of individualism and disrupting the market where it does things its own way.
Mamaka by Ovolo got its name from the ancient Pali language and will see the resort adopt a number of traditional Balinese and Indonesian service concepts, backed by local colours and textiles displayed throughout public spaces and guest rooms.
The 191-room property will also feature multiple food and beverage concepts and what it describes as a number of unique guest experiences. Room categories at the new hotel will include names such as Bali High, Kokomo, Summer Garden Terrace, Swagger Suites and the expansive Top Gun two-bedroom suites.
Mamaka by Ovolo is on track to open to guests at the end of this month.
