Iconic Hotels will open its eighth property within the Abode brand later this year, with the company announcing Abode Belconnen is on track to welcome guests from September.
The hospitality division of Canberra-based property developer, Geocon, say it is optimistic about the future by maintaining its strong pipeline in the face of an industry downturn which has seen many hotels close up.
Abode Belconnen will comprise of 152 self-contained apartment-style rooms of various sizes and able to accommodate many different parties. Facilities will include the all-day ‘No 10’ restaurant and bar – the second under that brand alongside sister property Abode Woden. The hotel will sit within a mixed-use precinct which will be home to more than 3,000 residents alongside dining and recreation facilities.
The new hotel will be the sixth Abode in Canberra, with the group’s other two properties located in Murrumbateman, north of the national capital, and Malua Bay on the NSW south coast.
Iconic Hotels General Manager, Rien Donkin, said the company’s ability to push ahead was a direct result of the strength in its property pipeline.
“The future remains strong for Iconic Hotels, with the development of more hotels and landmark destinations still very much in the pipeline,” Donkin said.
“The impending opening of Abode Belconnen marks the first of many exciting milestones scheduled for the years to come.”
