Legendary Japanese restauranteur Nobu Matsuhisa will open his first Sydney location as the headline F&B offering at Crown Towers Sydney upon its opening in December, the property has announced.
Nobu Sydney will become the brand’s newest location for the chef’s renowned fusion of Japanese cuisine with South American flavour. The restaurant will offer guests its iconic Black Cod Miso and Yellowtail Jalapeno as signature menu items, with the remainder of the line-up still to be finalised. It will be the third Nobu in Australia after Melbourne and Perth, both part of Crown properties in their respective cities.
The Nobu brand is owned in part by Matsuhisa himself along with Hollywood actor Robert De Niro and film producer Meir Teper, boasting a reputation of culinary innovation and inventive flavours with local inspiration and a commitment to high-quality produce. Resident head chefs are personally trained by Nobu, who shares his cooking techniques and guidance on adding and crafting new menu items.
Commenting on his newest outlet, Chef Nobu said Crown Sydney was creating a world class dining destination combining the best of the world mixed with the best of the city.
“Sydney is one of my favourite cities and the food scene has always impressed me – the quality of the produce is stand out. I am looking forward to bringing Nobu to what is already one of the most interesting cities in the world,” he said.
Crown Sydney Chief Operating Officer, Peter Crinis, said the announcement was exciting news for Sydneysiders who have been anticipating the opening of a local Nobu for many years.
“Local foodies have been known to travel to Melbourne or Perth to experience Nobu’s innovative new style Japanese cuisine, but with this new addition to Crown Sydney’s culinary line-up, they will no longer have to travel far to enjoy world class Japanese cuisine,” Crinis said.
“Developing a world-class dining destination has been at the forefront of Crown Sydney,” he added.
“It has taken years of consideration to determine the line-up of our dining precinct. This announcement signals a new era of fine dining for Sydney.”
