Event Hotels and Resorts has boldly committed to its original target of opening its new QT Auckland before the end of 2020 as construction on the property resumes following New Zealand’s COVID-19 lockdown.
The 150-room hotel will occupy the former Viaduct Harbour office building, with transformation of the property seeing it become the brand’s debut in Auckland and third in New Zealand. The hotel will also offer a signature dining concept from renowned chef, Sean Connolly along with a rooftop bar and high-tech conferencing space.
Under the control of General Manager, Doron Whaite, construction will adhere to the country’s newly mandated and enforced physical distancing guidelines, with strict measures in place for cleaning and contact tracing.
Event Hotels and Resorts’ General Manager Operations New Zealand, Simon White, said QT Auckland was still on track to open its doors later this year despite the pause inflicted by the pandemic.
“While we took a brief pause in construction, development is now well underway to bring QT’s bold and creatively-charged hospitality to Viaduct Harbour in 2020 as planned,” he said.
QT Auckland is being developed in partnership with Russell Property Group and Lockwood Property Group.
