West Perth will become the home of Australia’s first Radisson Red branded hotel after Radisson Hotel Group confirmed the signing of the management agreement with Barnes Capital for a newbuild property due to open in 2022.
The hotel will be situated opposite the Harold Boas Gardens on the corner of Wellington Street and Colin Street, well positioned to the rapidly evolving Perth CBD and Elizabeth Quay precinct. It will be a short walk to the Perth Arena and the activity of Hay Street.
Featuring 129 rooms, the business traveller-oriented hotel brand will offer guest facilities including a vibrant all-day restaurant, rooftop bar and swimming pool. A number of connected meeting and function rooms equipped with the latest AV technology has also been included in the hotel design.
Radisson Hotel Group President, Asia Pacific, Katerina Giannouka, said Perth was the ideal destination for Radisson Red to make its Australian debut.
“With its upbeat street scene, café culture and international outlook, this enterprising city is attracting significant interest from investors and visitors alike. Radisson RED West Perth will attract a new generation of travellers who seek smart, stimulating and social stays.”
Perth welcomed 11.1 million overnight visitors in the year ending March 2019 – an increase of 9.4% year-on-year. The Western Australia government has taken notice, committing $425 million in investment into expanding airline capacity and further developing the city’s attractions and public infrastructure over the next five years.
“This is a truly original concept that will be a perfect fit for Perth, which is fast becoming one of the country’s primary growth corridors,” said Barnes Capital Managing Director, Martyn Barnes.
The announcement of Radisson Red West Perth follows the recent confirmation of Radisson Hotel Group’s entry into New Zealand, with five new hotels across four brands – Radisson Blu, Radisson Red, Park Inn by Radisson and Radisson Collection – coming to Queenstown and Lake Tekapo beginning from 2021.
