London’s boutique hotel segment is one of the world’s strongest and creating a buzz at present is the latest arrival, Bankside, a member of Marriott’s Autograph Collection.

Bankside is a design-forward, art-driven boutique hotel that opened on the south bank of the Thames near the Tate Modern in London during October 2018. Not just any boutique property though, because few hotels in the British Capital can lay claim to be as art-inspired as this one is.

The six-storey glass building that houses the 161-room Bankside Hotel forms part of the impressive One Blackfriars development from award-winning architect Ian Simpson.

The interiors are courtesy of film set producer-turned-interiors architect, Dayna Lee of Powerstrip Studios (known for her work on the Kevin Costner hit film Dances With Wolves), and inside you’ll find brilliant artworks throughout, from the lobby to the elevators, hallways and inside the light-filled stylish and contemporary rooms.

Alongside leading artworks, the hotel is also home to co-working areas, a neighbourhood-style restaurant and bar called Art Yard Bar & Kitchen, and ‘white cube’ art gallery spaces for meetings and events.

To find out more about this brilliant new property, WAYFARER Host and HM Editor-In-Chief, James Wilkinson, spoke exclusively on camera to Bankside Hotel Manager Murray Scott in London recently.
