The New Zealand south island city of Dunedin has joined the Heritage Hotels network with its first property – the 76-room Dunedin Leisure Lodge – to become part of the group from 01 May, 2019.
First opened in 1978, the lodge is located in parkland acreage on the city fringes, close to the Dunedin Botanic Gardens and the University of Otago.
On-site facilities include the popular McGavins Restaurant & Bar and two conference venues – one of which has been redeveloped from a former malting room associated with a former brewery which once occupied the site but brewed its last beer more than 60 years ago.
Heritage Hotels CEO Graham Yan said the new addition was a strategic move to continue to grow the Heritage name in the south island.
“We are delighted to welcome this respected and well-established hotel to our group.
“Dunedin is a city we have wanted to be represented in strategically for some time, but we were just waiting for the right property and now we have it,” Yan said.
The latest addition to the group takes the Heritage portfolio in the south island to eight hotels.
