Brisbane’s Royal on the Park has unveiled its newly-refurbished interiors that showcase the hotel’s rich history and renowned elegance.
Built in 1969, Royal on the Park, formerly known as the Park Royal Motor Inn, was officially opened by the then Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Clem Jones.
Today, with prime positioning overlooking the immaculately manicured City Botanic Gardens, the hotel is one of Brisbane’s most historic properties and has long been known for its Great Gatsby-like rich timber décor and its admirable prestige.
With a well-regarded national and international reputation, Royal on the Park has been home to some of the world’s most celebrated celebrities over time including, Elton John, Led Zeppelin, Mick Jagger, ACDC, John Farnham, the Hoodoo Gurus and many more.
After almost five decades of trading, Royal on the Park General Manager Jan Schutt said it was decided that it was time for this grand old lady to be returned to her former glory.
Schutt said with past and present guest experiences at the core, loyal patrons were called upon to determine where improvements should be made.
When determining what it was that Royal on the Park represented, ‘traditional, classical and at-home’ were the common themes expressed, Schutt said, and due to this, these were exactly the features preserved during the renovations.
“The renovations enabled Royal on the Park to retain its key distinguishing factors – the wood panels, the formality of the arrival experience and the elegance of the lobby and the foyer; these are what make us iconic and differentiate us in the Brisbane hospitality space,” he said.
“Whilst retaining and enhancing the classic elegance and superior service of the hotel’s 60s roots, the renovations have enhanced the modern needs of our 21st century guests and the full-service nature of the hotel.”
Fit with amenities including one of Brisbane’s most elegant al la carte restaurants – The Walnut Restaurant and Lounge, a sundeck and a hot tub, along with a gym and a croquet lawn, Royal on the Park offers both contemporary and traditional services like no other.
