Heritage Hotel Management has signed The Devon Hotel in New Plymouth, New Zealand
The hotel, which joins Heritage on December 1, 2014, has recently embarked on an upgrade, which includes refurbishment of its 102 rooms and an update of the hotel’s reception and lobby.
Its recently opened state-of-the-art conference centre is suitable for events up to 750 people theatre style and 450 for a formal banquet.
“Considered New Plymouth’s leading hotel, the property set centrally in Devon Street East, is synonymous with New Plymouth and Taranaki,” said Heritage Hotel Management Group Development Manager, Ronnie Ronalde.
The hotel offers a range of well-equipped modern hotel rooms; many with sea or mountain views. The property is walking distance to the CBD and the coastal walkway, where guests can use the hotel mountain bikes to explore the popular trail at their leisure. There is also a restaurant and lounge bar, heated outdoor swimming, spa pools and off-street parking for over 60 vehicles on the three acre landscaped site.
“We are delighted to have such an iconic mid North Island hotel and conference venue join the group,” Ronalde said.
“The hotel to be known as The Devon Hotel, New Plymouth – A Heritage Hotel, meets our strict criteria of an excellent location and superb well maintained facilities.
“The region is a strong commercial destination and has a lot to attract both the leisure visitor and conference delegate,” he said.
The hotel is owned and operated by local identities, Peter and Rosemary Tennent. Robert Davies is the general manager and is assisted by a senior management team and staff of over 100.
New Plymouth is the major city in the Taranaki region on the North Island’s west coast of New Zealand. The city is a convenient mid-point between Auckland and Wellington by car and is well serviced by air with its local airport.
Ronalde said the addition of Devon Hotel to the group takes the total to 22 hotels across 18 New Zealand locations.
