The ‘new’ One&Only Hayman Island has welcomed its first guests after an AUD$80 million revamp.
The opening on July 1 was marked by Alan Leibman, Chief Executive Officer of Kerzner International, and Mark DeCocinis, President and Chief Operating Officer of One&Only Resorts, who joined Seng Huang Lee, Executive Chairman of Mulpha, the owner of the resort, for a ribbon-cutting and Aboriginal blessing of the land ceremony.
“A new era has begun at this iconic Australian resort as we introduce One&Only Hayman Island to the world,” said Mulpha’s Seng Huang Lee.
“The transformational refurbishment combined with One&Only’s innovation and commitment to delivering an extraordinary level of service will redefine luxury travel in Australia.”
The AUD$80 million renovated has transformed the popular resort into one of Australia’s most luxurious properties.
“We are excited to begin welcoming guests to One&Only Hayman Island, our first resort in the Asia Pacific region,” said Kerzner’s Leibman.
“The combination of this incredible private island in the Great Barrier Reef, the significant investment of $80 million made by our fantastic partners, Mulpha and our own One&Only team dedicated to providing guests with amazing experiences through our unique brand of service, represents an exciting addition to the luxury Australian travel market.
“We are confident that the new One&Only experience will bring more Australians and international guests alike to the Great Barrier Reef.”
Leibman said One&Only Hayman Island “will offer an unparalleled commitment to the finest holiday experiences on every possible level”.
