A Ferris wheel, rollercoaster and electric passenger train are among the many major initiatives planned for Rydges Resort Hunter Valley, which officially launched on Monday May 22.
The well-established resort, under the ownership of Schwartz Family Company, features 417 guest rooms, and expansive conferencing and leisure facilities, including an 18-hole golf course. And under the management of EVT, plans to grow its entertainment and events offering to establish the hotel as one of the state’s premier destination resorts.
“Our goal is to make Rydges Resort Hunter Valley NSW’s premier destination resort,” said Owner and Schwartz Family Company Director, Dr Jerry Schwartz.
“It will embody everything that is special about the region and its attractions.”
Among the initiatives underway at the property is the introduction of a fully-enclosed electric passenger train next week to transport guests around the grounds.
The resort’s family-friendly facilities – which include a Water Dragon Kids Club, train rides, pony rides and water park – will be expanded further this year with the addition of a Ferris wheel; a three-lane water slide, roller coaster, pirate ship and jumping castles.
The site’s equestrian facilities are being upgraded with permanent facilities including a grandstand to be developed over the next year to cater for future events. There are also plans to introduce glamping facilities and cabin accommodation for school groups.
New tours and trails include the ‘Hunter Valley Art, Wine and Food Hop’ tour of eight scenic, arty, food and wine destinations, which will be offered every Saturday, and three self-guided walking trails of the surrounding countryside.
The property will continue to draw events with the Hunter Valley Wine and Beer Festival to be staged there in June.
“The Hunter Valley should be one of Australia’s most preferred tourism destinations and we believe that EVT and Rydges can build on its current popularity and elevate it even further,” said Schwartz.
“The resort is pivotal to the Hunter Valley’s recalibration away from its former mining background to a new era based on tourism. There are so many attractions and activities available at the hotel and throughout the surrounding region, which makes it ideal for couples, families, groups, conferences and incentives.”
Rydges Resort Hunter Valley is the fifth of Schwartz Family Company’s properties under EVT management, marking a strong ongoing partnership between the two businesses.
“The synergy between Dr Schwartz’s passion for the Hunter Valley region and our operational expertise, will deliver a truly unique guest experience,” said EVT Director of Hotels and Resorts, Norman Arundel.
“The property is a sprawling playground in the heart of wine country and a destination in its own right, with something for everyone.”
