America’s Omni Hotels and Resorts has set a donation goal of 750,000 meals to donate to Feeding America, in honour of September Hunger Action Month, as part of a massive community service initiative.
Omni Hotels and Resorts Chairman, Peter Strebel, said the brand was raising awareness around food insecurity and engaging guests, the local communities where its hotels are located and colleagues to take part with several activations nationwide.
“We are honoured to be able to contribute to a cause we care so deeply about,” he said. “We are more than just a business; we are a family, and we are proud members of the communities where we operate.
“Our guests have become equally passionate about the cause, and we see Hunger Action Month as a great opportunity to drive impact, multiply our donations, and engage our communities in raising awareness for food scarcity and insecurity.”
Hunger Action Month activations are part of Omni Hotels and Resorts’ Say Goodnight to Hunger initiative, which was launched in June 2016 to support the more than 42 million Americans who live with food scarcity, according to the company.
Strebel said every Omni Hotels and Resort location participates in Say Goodnight to Hunger and to date, more than 21 million meals have been donated to Feeding America and, with a combined brand and community effort for Hunger Action Month, the projected donation will bring that number to close to 22 million meals.
As part of this initiative, he said Omni Hotels and Resorts was offering several ways for guests and the public to get involved, including double donations for all leisure and group bookings (completed between September 1 – 30, 2022 across Omni’s portfolio of over 50 hotels and resorts nationwide), double donations for guests opting out of house cleaning services during their stay in September, one meal donation for every large coffee or espresso drink sold on-property and a dedicated landing page for online donations directly to Feeding America.
