Remaining strong throughout a period of great uncertainty for the hotel and tourism industries, the expansion of Minor Hotels is an incredible success story that continues to unfold. With properties in the most sought-after leisure and business destinations across the globe, paired with the group’s aggressive expansion plans, there is fast becoming a Minor Hotels property around every corner.
Minor Hotels has an impressive portfolio of 528 hotels across 56 countries with a room count of over 75,000 rooms. 2022 has seen doors open to new hotels across the globe for the company’s eight brands, including Anantara openings in Dubai, Doha and Ubud alongside Avani properties in Koh Samui, Cam Ranh and Saigon.
It’s a similar story on Australian shores with development and brand expansion a key focus for the group.
The company recently announced the upcoming launch of its first full-service Avani hotel to the Australian market, with a new-build property planned for Mooloolaba on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Opening to guests in 2025, Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel will join Australia’s existing Avani Residences properties on the Gold Coast, Melbourne, and Adelaide.
Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel will feature 180 rooms catering to solo travellers, couples, groups, and families, as well as four distinctive restaurants, state-of-the-art meeting and conference facilities, a well-equipped kids’ club, a dedicated AvaniSpa, and a spectacular rooftop pool, bar, restaurant, and wedding venue with 180-degree water views.
The new Sunshine Coast property joins the property pipeline alongside NH Collection Sydney, which, in 2023, will bring the iconic hotel brand, NH Collection’s first property to open in the Australian market.
Boasting a prime position on Wentworth Street in Sydney’s CBD and with impeccable design throughout, NH Collection Sydney will feature a total of 254 stylishly appointed hotel rooms, state-of-the-art meeting and conference facilities, a well-equipped gymnasium, a speciality restaurant and lobby bar.
The re-invigoration of international tourism in Australia has further propelled expansion activity for the group. Australia continues to be a desirable location for international investors seeking property in sought-after leisure and business destinations, while on the home front, domestic developer activity and investment in the market is strong.
The company’s strategic combination of franchising, hotel management agreements and leasing arrangements, as well as investing in projects alongside developers, presents a myriad opportunity for growth within both capital cities and regional locations.
With these current conditions, Minor Hotels eagerly anticipates the launch of additional global brands into the Australian market and looks forward to sharing Minor Hotels’ robust offering with business and leisure travellers in new locations across the country.
