Wyndham Destinations has signed an agreement to manage Wyndham Garden Sapporo Odori – the second Wyndham Garden hotel to open in Japan.
The 132-room property, which opened its doors on June 30, features its own restaurant and cocktail bar on the ground floor. It follows the opening of Wyndham Garden Nagaizumi in 2020.
Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, which owns the Wyndham Garden brand, has named Wyndham Destinations Japan as its preferred hotel operator in the country.
“The opening of Wyndham Garden Sapporo Odori is indicative of the long-term potential we see in Japan and reinforces our commitment to bring our globally recognised brands to Asia Pacific,” said Wyndham Hotels and Resorts President, Asia Pacific, Joon Aun Ooi.
“We are exhilarated with our partnership with Wyndham Destinations because of their proven track record in executing day-to-day operations and delivering excellent guest services that the Wyndham Garden brand is synonymous with.”
On a percentage basis, Wyndham Garden is Wyndham’s fastest growing brand over the last five years. Aun Ooi highlighted Sapporo as a great location for the second hotel in Japan.
“Sapporo is a beautiful destination well known for its mountains, hot springs and winter festivals and attracts both domestic and international visitors to explore, making it a perfect addition to our growing portfolio of brands in this region, and our award-winning Wyndham Rewards loyalty program,” he said.
Wyndham Destinations currently oversees around 70 hotels and resorts across Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Europe and Southeast Asia.
Wyndham Destinations, President and Managing Director, International Operations, Barry Robinson, echoed this sentiment on partnering with Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, building owner JR West, and lessee, FP Sapporo GK.
“Sapporo is a destination much loved by both international and domestic travellers, as well as business guests. We look forward to warmly welcoming our first guests to our brand-new hotel, which offers a contemporary, comfortable and stylish base in the heart of the city.”
