Quest Apartment Hotels will set up new locations in the western suburbs of both Sydney and Melbourne thanks to new signings inked with burgeoning developments in both cities.
In Sydney, the serviced apartment operator will occupy the top 11 floors in a new 23-storey mixed-use development underway by Gitane Living in the city of Blacktown. Expected to open in the first half of 2023, the brand will sit alongside ground floor retail and private residences within the AUD$30 million building – part of a huge AUD$600 million worth of development currently either underway or planned for the northern side of the city’s railway station.
Quest Blacktown will feature 82 keys across a variety of studio and multi-bedroom apartments, each featuring self-contained internal facilities including kitchen and laundry equipment.
Down south in Victoria, the brand has also signed to grow its presence in the outer western suburbs of Melbourne, with a new 75-room property to open in the suburb of Truganina. The growing suburban area in the City of Wyndham is located around 40 minutes from both Melbourne and Geelong and is an area on track to grow in population from 280,000 to more than half a million in the next 20 years.
The company recently announced plans to double its presence in Geelong, with a second location to open in 2023 as part of a construction partnership with Pellicano.
Quest Truganina will be part of a mixed-use development by Abraham Cohen and will sit within four of the building’s six levels, offering a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments along with ground-floor reception, conference room, business lounge and fitness centre. Construction will begin in the second half of 2022 with completion currently scheduled for late 2023.
Quest General Manager of Growth and Capital Strategy, James Shields, said the announcements capitalised on demand for quality accommodation for growing business segments travelling to the area.
“Blacktown Local Government Area is currently home to over 23,000 local businesses and is poised for considerable growth in the coming years, with a number of major infrastructure, productivity, and liveability projects underway,” Shields said.
Speaking of Truganina, Shields added that global department brand, Target, recently relocated its Australian headquarters to the nearby Williams Landing Town Centre, with the Victorian Government and more than 100 other businesses all holding tenancies in the centre, reflecting the desirability of Melbourne’s west for employers and employees alike.
“In addition to the three projects we have announced this year that are under construction, there are another four hotels to be announced before the end of the year, as we continue to focus on regional and suburban locations in demand among the business traveller,” Shields said.
