A strategic business plan to grow its presence in Asia-Pacific has prompted Outrigger Hospitality Group to acquire a Thai property brand which will see the company return to the market with three rebranded beach resorts in the country’s south.
The company is highly active operating beach resorts in Hawaii, Fiji and Mauritius and will make its return to Thailand before the end of 2021. The acquisition consists of a total of 372 keys and will lead to the rebranding of the former Manathai Koh Samui, Manathai Khao Lak and Manathai Surin Phuket.
Outrigger Koh Samui Beach Resort is a 148 key resort located on Lamai Beach on Thailand’s second largest island around 70 minutes by plane from Bangkok and 55 minutes from Koh Samui. The resort features a day spa, three restaurants, a kids club and spaces for weddings and events.
Back on the mainland, the 158-room Outrigger Khao Lak Beach Resort is located 75 minutes by car from Phuket Airport and sits on Bang Sak Beach. Guests can make use of two restaurants, a bar, large swimming pool with ocean views, a kids club and canoes for guest to hire.
Lastly, Phuket Manathai by Outrigger is a quainter 66-room resort on the edge of Surin Beach and closely located to numerous dining, shopping and entertainment venues. Resort facilities include a restaurant, a swim-up pool bar and day spa.
Outrigger Hospitality Group President and CEO, Jeff Wagoner, said the acquisitions furthered the company’s mission to be the world’s premiere beach resort brand.
“This acquisition trio demonstrates our confidence in Thailand’s tourism industry and commitment to the global expansion of Outrigger’s leisure resort portfolio,” Wagoner said.
“Our past success in Thailand stemmed from celebrating unique cultural aspects of the destination – which is something that we plan to continue at all three of the new properties.”
The company has outlined plans to continue its expansion in popular beach destinations and recently outlined its ambitions of returning to Australia in destinations such as Surfers Paradise.
