The countdown is on to 15 June 2021, when Crystalbrook Collection will begin welcoming guests to its newest property – Kingsley – which will become the first five-star hotel in the Newcastle CBD, north of Sydney.
Check out this video with a special look inside Kingsley.
Located within the city’s former ‘Roundhouse’ Civic Administration Building, the 130-room hotel has been crafted from within and provides a new lease of life to the iconic structure, which sits opposite Civic Park in the city’s Cultural Precinct.
Guest facilities will include a rooftop restaurant and bar, designed after Newcastle’s olive groves, which will line the corridor and create a canopy over guest tables. The hotel will also feature a lobby bar and café with an outdoor terrace along with two private meeting rooms. Up to 80% of the produce served by the hotel will be grown or procured within a three-hour radius of the hotel – a similar ethos practiced by The Byron at Byron by Crystalbrook – another of the group’s properties.
Crystalbrook says that in an Australian first, the hotel’s bathrooms will be entirely waste-free, with all amenities biodegradable or recyclable. Furthermore, the hotel will be free of single-use plastic, will offer keyless room access and paperless check-in and out services. Rooms will feature tablet control centres to activate all of the room’s features, along with request housekeeping services or in-room dining.
Entertainment will include Google Chromecast for guests to view their own material, or access to hundreds of recent movies on a complimentary basis.
Kingsley by Crystalbrook will be led by Carl Taranto as General Manager, who said incorporating the city’s history and culture into the hotel’s personality was critical.
“Championing Newcastle’s heritage and embracing the city’s shifting landscape is at the heart of the hotel,” he said.
“Locals and visitors alike will be able to see this threaded through the interior design, which is a contemporary take on our mining history, and in our partnerships, our restaurant and bar concepts and in our food and beverage offering.”
