Brisbane native John O’Shea has returned both to Australia and to Langham Hospitality Group, becoming the General Manager at The Langham, Gold Coast and its associated permanent resident towers, The Jewel Residences.
Bringing more than 40 years in hospitality to his new role, O’Shea returns from his most recent role as Managing Director of Splash Beach Resort and Villas in the Thailand holiday hotspot of Phuket. In his time there, he managed the resort’s renovation and rebranding, which included work on 611 rooms, suites, penthouses and villas.
O’Shea also brings significant experience working in China, where he held the role of General Manager at The Langham, Shanghai, Xintiandi – the flagship property of The Langham in mainland China. His time in China also included a promotion to the role of Managing Director at Cordis Shanghai.
The three-tower Jewel development will be positioned beachside on the Gold Coast’s famed Surfers Paradise strip, with The Langham, Gold Coast consisting of 169 luxury rooms from Levels 3-20 in the taller of the three towers. Within the same building will be a further 170 serviced apartments from Levels 22-49.
Langham Hospitality Group CEO, Stefan Leser, said John was a dedicated leader best placed to take the helm at the two most highly anticipated openings on the Gold Coast.
“I am confident that John’s wealth of experience will not only continue to elevate The Langham brand in the region, but he will deliver the promise of impeccable service standards and luxury experiences for which the brand is renowned,” Leser added.
The Langham, Gold Coast and The Jewel Residences, Gold Coast are under construction now and are due to open in 2022.
