New regional responsibilities including Asia-Pacific will be added to the role of Carlton Ervin, after Marriott International promoted the company veteran to the post of Global Development Officer, International, based in the US.
A key player in the introduction and expansion of the AC by Marriott and Moxy brands, Ervin will also add the Caribbean and Latin America to his remit, while retaining development oversight for Europe, Middle East and Africa. The 21-year Marriott veteran also played a major role in the integration of Starwood’s suite of brands following its 2016 acquisition by Marriott.
Alongside Ervin, Marriott International has also appointed Noah Silverman to a similar role as Global Development Officer, US and Canada, where he will lead the charge for the company’s brand development in its US heartland.
In his new role, Ervin will work closely with Marriott International’s Australian development team headed by Richard Crawford and Area Vice President, Sean Hunt.
At the end of 2020, Marriott International’s global hotel pipeline numbered nearly 3,000 properties and nearly 500,000 rooms. Of this, nearly 230,000 were under active construction.
“Noah and Carlton have been instrumental in driving Marriott’s rooms growth and incredibly strong development pipeline,” said Marriott International President, Stephanie Linnartz.
“Their proven track record positions them well to lead Global Development as we move forward.
“Their combined experience, strategic vision and relationships with the owner and franchisee communities around the world will help to advance the company’s growth strategy, including expansion into new and underserved markets,” she added.
