After two years as a member, Quest Apartment Hotels General Manager of Growth and Capital Strategy, James Shields, has been elevated to the role of Chairman on the Property Council’s Hotel Property Committee.
The committee serves to represent and advocate for hotel and tourism policy on behalf of the hotel property sector, including industry education and networking opportunities.
Highly experienced in the hotel property sector, Shields has worked across the investment banking division, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, with leading financial advisory firm, Rothschild & Co, in both London and Melbourne. His career also includes senior roles at Ernst and Young.
Shields says he will push an agenda of peer collaboration and engagement in his time at the helm of the committee, during a very difficult period for the tourism and accommodation sector.
“I’m proud to be among an accomplished group of professionals spanning diverse tourism industries to contemplate important questions, share insights and leverage our collective strength as we work towards recovery,” he said.
“The past twelve months, while complex, have created conditions ripe for growth and forward momentum. There is a lot we can learn from one and other as our industry re-emerges and redefines itself.”
