Accor has appointed highly experienced industry leader, Rachael Harman, as the opening General Manager at Sofitel Adelaide, which is due to open in the middle of 2021.
Harman brings more than two decades of experience to her new role, primarily in Asia where she served in a variety of management roles across several Marriott International brands, including the Westin Kuala Lumpur and Le Meridien properties in Kota Kinabalu and Singapore.
A graduate of the International College of Hotel Management, Harman has returned to her hometown in South Australia to take up the top job at Sofitel Adelaide. Located in Currie Street, the hotel will be part of a 32-storey mixed-use hotel and residential tower. Sofitel Adelaide will comprise the lower 24 storeys, offering a total of 251 guest rooms and suites.
Guest facilities at the new hotel will include a restaurant, two bars, a swimming pool, fitness centre and health club, a variety of meeting spaces and the Sofitel Club Lounge.
Speaking of her new position, Harman said: “I’m extremely proud and honoured to manage Sofitel Adelaide – the first internationally recognised five-star hotel to be built in Adelaide in 30 years.
“This hotel is world-class and the opportunity to manage this luxury hotel has enticed me back to my hometown of Adelaide after more than 20 years away. I am incredibly passionate about this city and the role Sofitel Adelaide will play in elevating Adelaide as a premium events, business and tourism destination.”
