More than 100 high-end and luxury boutique retailers will open stores at the sprawling Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development after a deal was struck between Destination Brisbane Consortium and DFS Group.
The deal will result in the opening of the largest T Galleria in Oceania, which will offer over 6,000 square metres of retail floorspace including a three-level T Galleria emporium in the Printery Building on George Street. The collection of luxury brands available will include Louis Vuitton, Ray Ban, Alexander McQueen, Tag Heuer, Estee Lauder and many more – some making their debut in Australia. T Galleria currently operates stores in Cairns, Sydney and Auckland.
Queen’s Wharf Brisbane, due to begin a staged opening from late 2022, is a joint venture between The Star Entertainment Group and its development partners, Hong Kong-based Chow Tai Fook Enterprises and Far East Consortium.
The AUD$3.6 billion development has been under construction for several years alongside the Brisbane River and once complete, will feature four hotels, a convention centre, more than 50 bars, cafes and restaurants, a casino, up to 2,000 residential apartments, the Sky Deck, a moonlight cinema, numerous recreational and cultural activities and attractions and the Neville Bonner Bridge.
Deputy Premier and State Development Minister, Steven Miles, said Queen’s Wharf was another milestone in the development program that will transform the Brisbane CBD, boost tourism and create thousands of new jobs once complete.
“Where other parts of the world have slowed these types of projects, construction has continued on Queen’s Wharf throughout the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
“The presence of a retail name like DFS will enhance Brisbane’s allure for international and national luxury-brand shoppers,” added Queensland Treasurer and Minister for Investment, Cameron Dick.
“In a post-COVID world, this resort and casino will be a drawcard for an estimated an additional 1.4 million international, interstate and local annual visitors.”
The Star Entertainment Group CEO, Matt Bekier, said Queen’s Wharf will deliver world class experiences on many levels.
“We have talked about four hotels, scores of restaurants, cafes and bars, 12 football fields of
open space, the Sky Deck, moonlight cinema, the Neville Bonner Bridge and residential
apartments. Now the detail of the Queen’s Wharf retail shopping offering is taking shape and it further fuels the excitement of what this transformational development will deliver for Queensland and Queenslanders.”
“With DFS on board, our luxury retail shopping precinct will not only be globally competitive but the biggest they have in Australia. This will deliver the wow factor for locals, as well as interstate and international travellers.”
DFS Group Chairman and CEO, Benjamin Vuchot, said he was delighted to be joining Queen’s Wharf Brisbane and was looking forward to welcome travelling customers to the exciting new precinct.
“DFS’ approach has always been to create destinations within destinations – we choose locations where our customers want to visit and then create stores of a quality and richness that elevate the local retail offering to a world-class level.”
