Gold Coast’s Hilton Surfers Paradise Hotel & Residences has completed the property-wide installation of new room access and door lock technology as part of a comprehensive guest security upgrade at the hotel.
The Jerry Schwartz-owned property has fitted VingCard Signature RFID door locks from Assa Abloy Global Solutions across its 178 guest rooms and staff access areas, with the new locks employing encryption technology and opening the hotel to contactless check-in and room access functionality through the Hilton Honors loyalty program and online check-in services.
The upgrade sees Hilton Surfers Paradise take on the latest version of the RFID locks, which remove the risk of unauthorised keycard cloning and instant compatibility with mobile access. The upgrade brings the hotel in line with enhanced energy efficiency and hygiene efforts through the Hilton CleanStay program.
In-room air conditioning and lighting controls through the hotel’s energy management system can also now communicate with the upgraded door locks, allowing for automatic adjustment to suit the room’s occupancy level. When a guest checks out, the room now migrates to a low-energy power saving mode, turning off the lights and cooling system to reduce operational costs.
Hilton Surfers Paradise owner, Dr Jerry Schwartz, said: “We are always looking for ways to make each guest stay be safer, more convenient and always memorable, with Assa Abloy Global Solutions and its impressive technology offerings going above and beyond in allowing us to reach each of these goals.”
Schwartz Family Co Sustainability and Projects Coordinator, Paul Briggs, said the upgrade ensures greater property-wide security while meeting demands for instant and social distancing needs.
“It also represents an opportunity to provide guests with a personalised experience that many increasingly expect while at the same time lowering building energy expenses.”
