Coolangatta’s first and only on-site airport hotel – Rydges Gold Coast Airport has today opened its doors to guests, HM can reveal.
The 192-room hotel, located a one-minute walk from the international terminal, features Deluxe, Premium and Executive rooms over seven storeys and is designed to cater to both short and longer-term stays. Guest facilities include a 25-metre resort-style swimming pool, 24-hour reception, fitness centre, free undercover car parking and multiple meeting spaces catering to between 10 and 250 people.
Two dining options are available at the new hotel. Runway Restaurant is the hotel’s all-day outlet, while the Salty Fox Rooftop Bar boasts views to the ocean to the east and over the tarmac in the west.
Guest rooms and the hotel’s public areas feature themed murals and artworks that reflect the Gold Coast culture and relaxed lifestyle, local flora and fauna and shots of the region’s iconic skyline.
Event Hospitality and Entertainment Hotels and Resorts Director, Norman Arundel, said he was thrilled to be opening the gateway’s first airport hotel.
“The unique position of the Rydges Gold Coast Airport makes it the ideal locale for both corporate and leisure travellers,” he said.
“The property delivers the facilities you’d expect from a traditional airport hotel, while also catering to and offering the perfect base for holiday makers to explore all the Gold Coast and its surrounds have to offer.
“Prior to the impact of COVID-19 on travel, the Gold Coast Airport was the sixth busiest airport in Australia, with more than 6 million people passing through its gates each year, and we look forward to contributing to efforts to drive tourism on the Gold Coast, and beyond, as borders reopen domestically and internationally”.
Luke Harley has been tasked with the General Manager duties at Rydges Gold Coast Airport, saying he was looking forward to playing a part in supporting the local tourism and hospitality sector.
