Hotel restaurants can now publish and instantly update menus, opening hours and other business information across a network of more than 100 websites and apps as part of a new product launched by TripAdvisor.
Dubbed ‘Menu Connect’, the link is an online listings management network that allows restaurants to publish, update and manage menus, photos, opening hours, location, health, safety and hygiene information and more across websites including Google, Facebook, Yelp, OpenTable and more. Popular news websites which feature restaurant menus have also been linked to the new TripAdvisor connection.
Once connected, a restaurant can gain access to market insights including how many times their information has been accessed and from which site a user found the information. Currently, more than 27,000 restaurants worldwide have connected to the service.
The new solution builds on TripAdvisor’s recent ‘Contactless Menus’ feature which allows restaurants to create a QR code for diners to access their menu and place orders, minimising contact between staff and customers.
TripAdvisor General Manager of Hospitality Solutions, Martin Verdon-Roe, said Menu Connect was a simple solution designed to help Food and Beverage Managers and Restaurant Managers run their venues more efficiently.
“With the abundance of day-to-day responsibilities restaurant owners face, marketing and updating business information online is the last thing on owners’ minds, yet it is often the deciding factor for diners looking for somewhere to eat,” he said.
According to a recent BrightLocal Citations Trust Report, as many as 80% of consumers lose trust in local businesses if they see incorrect or inconsistent information online.
