Former Savills Australia Director, Vasso Zographou, has departed the organisation in favour of CBRE Hotels, where he is now part of the Capital Markets team, overseeing hotel and leisure investment transactions.
The move sees Zographou re-join former colleague, Michael Simpson, who recently moved to CBRE himself to take a role as its Managing Director. Zographou brings more than three decades in the industry to his new position, where he will continue to analyse the market and advise hotel owners, financiers and operators on market trends and opportunities.
The latest signing at CBRE caps off a strong period of recruitment for the organisation, which along with Simpson has also signed former Savills Director, Raymond Tran and enticed Tom Gibson to return to the company from his role with JLL Hotels.
Prior to his time at Savills, Zographou held senior roles with Radisson Hotel Group as its Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, with time also spent as Managing Director of Horwath HTL Australia.
Simpson said the addition of Vasso Zographou would add a significant amount of experience to the company across sales of existing hotels and development projects.
“He is regarded by clients as a trusted adviser who couples his tenacious transaction skills with experience in hotel due diligence, operator selection, asset management and via his roles as a Receiver and Manager in the 90’s and early millennium on most of Australia’s major distressed hotels.
“These broad skills will be a differentiator for our Hotels business in the current climate,” Simpson added.
