South Australia’s State Commission Assessment Panel has approved and confirmed development to proceed for Rydges on the Wharf Port Adelaide, which will headline a revamp of the Adelaide River waterfront.
The 180-room hotel is a project of CK Property Group and will become Rydges’ third location in South Australia. The hotel will be positioned as a key accommodation option for the state’s nearby defence industry, which has signed contracts to build Australian defence vessels for the next 30 years. A nearby technology park and thousands of other businesses will also be well situated to the new hotel.
Event Hospitality Director of Hotels, Norman Arundel, said the company was thrilled to be working with CK Property Group to deliver the exciting new hotel.
“With the rapidly growing Defence sector, there will be strong demand for this project, and we look forward to Rydges becoming an integral part of the local community,” he said.
“Event also has enormous enthusiasm for South Australia’s vibrant Tourism and Travel sector. We recently opened the highly successful Atura Adelaide Airport and have also announced the existing QT brand will be coming to Adelaide.”
Hotel facilities at Rydges on the Wharf Port Adelaide will include the French-inspired ‘Black Diamond’ restaurant, along with conference and meeting facilities along with additional food and beverage venues.
CK Property Group joint Managing Director, Walt Coulston, said a major focus for the new hotel will be providing accommodation to the defence sector and other businesses in the area.
“We engaged with locally renowned architect Brown Falconer and created an iconic waterfront Hotel design which will help revitalise Port Adelaide,” he said.
“Event is the perfect partner for us, and we look forward to working closely with them to the benefit of all involved”.
