Brewing firm Pirate Life has joined forces with SkyCity Adelaide to unveil what will become Australia’s first microbrewery inside a casino when the new-look establishment opens later this year.
The new microbrewery entertainment option will headline an F&B area known as ‘The District at SkyCity’ which will feature multiple restaurants, bars and cafes, housed in a refurbished heritage building on Level 1 within the new complex. Other works to take place include a full restoration of the Chandelier Bar which will see 2,000 baubles removed and reinstalled following a major sand-blasting of the area.
Both Marble Hall and Baccarat Pavilion will also be refurbished, while the Central Café will be constructed on the Ground floor, ready to open in the coming weeks. The precinct will also feature a Sports Bar, Poker Zone and Bistro, Guardsman Bar and Restaurant, ground floor gaming area and a new three-storey glass atrium to connect the restored heritage building with the new development.
It follows the announcement last month of SkyCity’s new hotel brand – Eos by SkyCity – which will consist of a 120-room luxury hotel, featuring four restaurants in its own right, ballroom and function centre within a 12-storey building.
SkyCity Adelaide General Manager, David Christian, said The District at SkyCity featuring Pirate Life is the final piece in the puzzle for the new entertainment and hospitality hotspot.
“During the recent closure of the Adelaide Casino, construction projects were able to continue on the expansion and hotel site, as well as within our beautiful heritage building, where The District at SkyCity will come to life on Level 1 later this year,” Christian said.
Pirate Life was founded in Adelaide in 2014, with the brand soon joining the CUB stable and expanding into a second site in Port Adelaide last year.
