Construction is on track to begin in October on the first in a four-stage mixed-use mega-development in the Gold Coast suburb of Southport which will include a 4 ½ star hotel, developers have revealed.
Imperial Square Gold Coast will comprise four towers once complete, led by the 18-storey Regal Residences which will include two rooftop penthouses and a 200-suite hotel. At present, it is unclear whether the hotel will be outsourced for management or be operated under an in-house brand.
Three future stages will each include the development of a new tower, with the 48-storey Monarch Place, 68-storey Imperial Tower and a monstrous 108-storey skyscraper to be known as The Majesty which will become Australia’s tallest residential tower.
All up, Imperial Square will offer 1,600 residences and 40,000 square metres of commercial and retail space. More than 3,000 jobs will be created during the construction process, with a further 2,600 permanent positions for the hotel, commercial and other precincts.
The project by development firm, Azzura, has been labelled as the first ‘shovel ready’ construction project on the Gold Coast since the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. Azzura CEO, Robert Badalotti, said he was excited to launch the first stage to market this week.
“What we will be delivering at Imperial Square will set a new era for Southport and a new benchmark for quality,” he said.
“The project has been meticulously designed over numerous years and will respond to emerging growth, infrastructure and employment opportunities in the region.”
According to an Urbis study, Southport has been identified as an exciting new CBD hub on the Gold Coast, with over $300 million in infrastructure projects currently either planned, under construction or completed over the last 12 months.
