Eager diners missing the social ambiance of their favourite restaurant can now do so whilst maintaining social distancing requirements thanks to a new ‘Restaurant In Room’ concept from Ovolo Hotels.
Launched today, the innovative concept has been launched at one hotel only – Ovolo Nishi in Canberra – however efforts are underway to expand to other Ovolo properties in Australia in line with the gradual lifting of movement restrictions. Pending distancing rules, the concept may become available at Ovolo Woolloomooloo’s Alibi Bar & Kitchen and Za Za Ta at Ovolo The Valley in Brisbane.
Restaurant In Room is available currently from Thu-Sat each week and sees up to two diners per party escorted to one of Ovolo Nishi’s hotel rooms for a private dining experience, with set three or five-course menus prepared by the hotel’s Monster Kitchen & Bar starting from $229 per couple. Matching beverages can be added on for an additional fee.
Guests can then choose to complete the experience by occupying the room for the entire night as a final optional add-on if they wish, with Ovolo’s ‘Perks’ of free WiFi, mini-bar and breakfast the following morning included.
In addition to Monster Bar, local partner restaurants will also be given the opportunity to reopen and prepare meals for guests via the concept. Dinners will take place at set times, beginning at 6pm with guests vacating the room at 10pm unless it has been booked for the whole night.
Ovolo Group F&B Director, Vince Lombino, said the company was looking to “adapt and evolve” and keep the wheels turning for staff, friends and colleagues while the social landscape slowly returns to normal.
“To take this concept to the next level, we are even looking to collaborate with our Creative Culinary Partner, Ian Curley from French Saloon, at Ovolo Laneways in Melbourne and even one step further working with our fellow restauranteurs to potentially do pop-up Restaurant In Rooms,” Lombino added.
