Ground has been broken in the southern Californian town of Corona on the first Everhome Suites – the new foray into the extended-stay market by Choice Hotels International.
Announced this week at the American Lodging Investment Summit in Los Angeles, the new brand is built around flexibility, designed to help longer-term guests customise their stay to suit personal comforts and habits in order to maintain individual routines.
Backed by a low-cost build model for owners and flexibility in design inclusions, the Everhome Suites model consists of studio and one-bedroom apartments with dedicated space for work via a rolling, height-adjustable workstation which can double as a dining table. Kitchens will be equipped with refrigerators, microwaves, dishwashers, cookware, cutlery and a range of appliances with plenty of counter space, while bedrooms will feature a variety of storage options. Properties will even offer a number of pet-friendly options to assist guests keen to bring their domestic animal companions with them.
A multipurpose lobby area will be set up to allow guests to utilise space for working, relaxing or dining. A library, fitness centre, business centre and shared guest laundry along with self-service marketplace will also be available. Some Everhome Suites properties will offer swimming pools.
Choice Hotels Vice President Brand Strategy and Operations, Extended Stay, Anna Scozzafava, said there was a sizeable gap in the extended-stay market on which the company was capitalising.
“The demand for hotel stays of seven-plus nights is nearly 20% of all room nights sold, yet only 9% of the supply is in the extended-stay segment, according to data from The Highland Group and Kalibri Labs. Everhome Suites sets out to capture this unmet demand with fresh, modern hotels that satisfy value-conscious consumer preferences for longer-term stays.
“Our target guest is driven to be successful personally and professionally, and we designed Everhome Suites to empower them to live and work more efficiently on the road so they can tackle whatever comes next.”
The first Everhome Suites is expected to be open in 2021, with development agreements currently in place for another 13 in markets such as Austin, Texas and others in Los Angeles. Choice Hotels Asia-Pac has said there are currently no plans to introduce the brand in its region.
