Melbourne’s inner-city suburb of Richmond will welcome the Holiday Inn brand to town from 2023, with a newbuild 160-room hotel confirmed as part of a new long-term management agreement.
The mixed-use development comes in a deal between InterContinental Hotels Group and development partners Pelligra Group, PrimeLand Group and Diamond Hospitality Singapore. Located around a 10-minute walk from the MCG and Rod Laver Arena, the hotel will be situated across from Burnley Station and will appeal to the growing business community developing in and around Richmond.
Holiday Inn Richmond will feature IHG’s Open Lobby concept, which aims to incorporate front desk functionality with an all-day dining, lounge and bar area along with a business centre, with flexibility at the heart of the space. A similar concept from fellow IHG brand Crowne Plaza is currently in the midst of a global rollout and is expected to debut around Australia starting from 2020.
InterContinental Hotels Group VP Development, Abhijay Sandilya, said Holiday Inn was one of Australasia’s fastest-growing brands.
“Not only is Richmond a great destination for sports fans, it boasts a number of demand drivers in the technology, health and education space, and we are confident this hotel will be a favourite with corporate, event and VFR travellers.
“We are exceptionally excited to build our relationship with Pelligra Group to bring this exciting Holiday Inn to the market,” he added.
The latest Holiday Inn continues the brand’s growing presence in suburban and regional areas, with current newbuild projects at various stages of construction in Ringwood, Werribee, Geelong, Coburg, Dandenong, Wagga Wagga and Queenstown.
