A revised Development Application has been lodged with Gold Coast City Council for a three-tower mixed-use precinct which will include a 225-room resort hotel on a block adjacent to the city’s famous Dreamworld theme park.
The $500 million development, which will sit on the corner of Beattie Road and Dreamworld Parkway, will see two residential towers border a resort hotel with additional facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, lagoon-style swimming pool and 40-seat pool bar and 400 square metre ballroom for events.
Part of the ‘Coomera Masterplan’ by developer Gordon Corp, the original plan called for a 300-room hotel, however this has been downsized slightly in order to win approval from officials following a legal battle in the Queensland Planning and Environment Court.
“This reduction (of room numbers) allows the future project team to move forward with (an application) for all three stages,” the revised DA stated.
No management brand has been identified or sourced as yet to manage the hotel component of the development. While the site sits adjacent to Dreamworld and White Water World, the theme park has confirmed to HM it is not involved in the project.
HM has attempted to reach Gordon Corp to learn more about a potential management brand for the hotel in question.
