Australia’s first interactive in-pool jukebox has been introduced at Novotel Cairns Resort in a late addition to the recent refurbishment completed at the North Queensland property.
The ‘CrowdDJ’ system, now in place at the resort’s Beach Club pool, comes from music technology company NightLife Music which allows users to set their own soundtrack via a smartphone app they can link to a compatible system located near them. Systems also include a touchscreen kiosk for guests to use as an alternative interface.
The new system comes as one of the final pieces in a 15-month multimillion renovation and refurbishment at the resort which is on track for completion next month and has seen new colour schemes and alfresco seating areas installed at its two F&B venues – Moku Bar & Grill and Moku Beach Club.
All 314 guest rooms have also received a makeover with new timber flooring and cabinetry, a teal and purple colour scheme, new mini-bar fridges, revised bathrooms and showers and upgraded technology including new Samsung interactive televisions.
Novotel Cairns General Manager, Scott Grant, said it was critical the resort stayed in touch with innovative technology and continued to elevate the guest experience.
“We have installed crowdDJ at our swim-up pool bar, so you can pick a cocktail or a beer and select the songs you want to hear to accompany it. We’ve even upgraded our sound system to ensure we enhance the pool bar experience.
“The music is spot-on to match the vibe we want of an endless summer and of course cater to our clientele both business and leisure, so it’s family friendly, familiar and contemporary.”
