InterContinental Hotels Group will spread its wings further into the Pacific and Micronesia after a deal was reached to take over the management of the Fiesta Resort Guam from 2021.
While already loaded for sale in the IHG global systems, the agreement will see Guam join the IHG global destination network, with the 318-room beachfront property resort in Tumon Bay rebranding to Crowne Plaza Guam following an extensive multimillion-dollar refurbishment.
The move comes in the midst of a global rollout and relaunch of the Crowne Plaza guest experience and brand standards which will see hotels around the world adopt flexible facilities through a range of new spaces including new co-working facilities, meeting pods and other pro-business initiatives. The purpose of the new operating model is to offer guests the ability to seamlessly move between focused attitudes for work and more casual and relaxed moods for socialising and downtime.
Once complete, Crowne Plaza Guam will offer guests a Crowne Plaza lounge, renovation food and beverage outlets, fitness centre, swimming pool, function and meetings space and a renovated ballroom capable of hosting weddings and larger-scale events. Crowne Plaza’s signature Sleep Advantage Program will also be in place at the property along with standard benefits available to IHG Rewards Club members.
InterContinental Hotels Group VP Development – Australia, Japan and Pacific, Abhijay Sandilya, said the company was very excited to be adding Guam to the global network.
“Guam is already a favourite with travellers from Korea, China and Japan, and we look forward to growing their footprint with our world-class Crowne Plaza brand. We are proud to work with the Asia Pacific Hotels Inc to deliver IHG’s signature True Hospitality, Pacific Island style.”
