Malaysian boutique hotel brand Cititel X will expand to Australia from early next year in the form of a new 60-room offering in Pyrmont, near Darling Harbour in Sydney.
Cititel X Sydney will be a hybrid of the self-contained/all-inclusive/co-living model by including unlimited guest access to snacks and refreshments in room rates. A guest lounge and pantry on the ground floor will be kept stocked with guests able to access soft drinks, Espresso coffee, teas and water along with a social and communal lounge, which will be stocked with cooking utensils and equipment for guests to prepare their own meals if so desired.
The property is being developed by Malaysian hotelier Boon Lee Tan, whose has been involved with other Sydney projects include the Tank Stream Hotel in the CBD along with city relics including the restoration of the Queen Victoria Building, Galleries Victoria and the Strand Arcade.
Cititel X General Manager, Klaus Kinateder, said the hotel had been purposefully designed to fill what he described as a “vacuum” in Sydney’s market.
“Previous co-living projects have been developed out of former student accommodation and don’t offer the quality or facilities that international travellers – especially business travellers – are seeking.
“There won’t be lengthy check-in and check-out processes because effectively once a guest arrives just about every service in the hotel is included in their rate.”
Cititel X will be located on Murray Street, Pyrmont, close to The Star and Darling Harbour.
