Expressions of interest from hotel management brands currently not operating in Australia are being sought by developers Cre8tive Property and Newcity Development Group to operate a 199-room property set to begin construction in Melbourne’s upmarket Southbank precinct.
A new, 69-storey mixed-use tower combining a lifestyle hotel with residential apartments and co-working spaces has been approved to begin construction as part of a new urban renewal project in the Victorian capital’s inner-city, with a view to an opening date in 2024.
Designed by architects Elenberg Fraser, the complex will also include facilities for guests and residents include two swimming pools, a ground floor restaurant and bar, a fitness centre and yoga studio. On the rooftop will be an observatory and sky garden offering views over the Melbourne CBD, Port Phillip Bay and the Botanic Gardens.
Cre8tive Property Managing Director, Andrew Taylor, said the City of Melbourne had committed significant funds to transform the Southbank area to secure its reputation as a premier arts and cultural destination.
“This project in the heart of Southbank is one of the most inspiring developments the city has seen and Newcity Development is creating a space that is going to become a mecca for locals and guests to the city.
“Standing 69-storeys tall, the tower is not only going to transform the Southbank skyline, but it is going to bring the vibrancy that lifestyle hotels embody to the area and that in itself is incredibly exciting.”
