Melbourne’s burgeoning Fisherman’s Bend urban renewal project will welcome another new tenant with Oakwood signing on to operate a new mixed-use hotel within the complex on the southern banks of the Yarra River.
Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2022, Oakwood Premier Melbourne will be a luxury hotel operation set within a 40-storey tower which will also offer commercial space, residential apartments, dining and retail. The newest Oakwood address will offer 154 hotel rooms aimed at short-stay travellers, while the complex will also include 238 apartments ranging across studio, one and two-bedroom configurations.
Facilities within the hotel will include an all-day restaurant, lobby bar, meeting space, fitness centre, retail options and Sky Bar Melbourne – a sky lounge and entertainment venue which will offer sweeping views of the city and outer suburbs.
“Defined by its uncompromising, tailored service standards and prime downtown address, we are extremely proud to have the opportunity to introduce this luxury product to Melbourne’s prestigious Southbank Promenade,” said interim Oakwood CEO and Oakwood Asia Pacific Managing Director, Dean Schreiber.
Oakwood and its accommodation management division is a fully-owned subsidiary of Mapletree Investments. The signing of Oakwood Premier follows on from April’s announcement that Oakwood Apartments will debut in Dandenong – Melbourne’s rapidly growing secondary CBD.
Fisherman’s Bend will also be home to the debut of Marriott International’s AC Hotels by Marriott brand, which continues its construction and is due to open next year.
