L-R: Lynn Qu and Joanne Heggie, Trip.com

The online travel booking stratosphere in Australia now has a new player, with Trip.com joining Expedia and Booking.com (operated by Priceline Group) with offices in Sydney.

Since its formation in 1999, the Shanghai-based OTA has grown to be the largest facilitator of online bookings in China, processing one in every four transactions. Across its network of companies, the most recent Ctrip accounts revealed the company earned RMB 31 billion in 2017 (AUD$6.5 billion).

The company recently heralded its arrival in Sydney by hosting travel industry colleagues at a launch event overlooking the harbour. It was here that Wayfarer and sister brand HM spoke to Trip.com Global Vice President of Product & Marketing, Lynn Qu, to get her initial impressions of the Australian market and how the brand expects to perform here.
