Images from a prototype room at AccorHotels’ next new hotel to open in Melbourne have been released ahead of the property’s opening in April.
Situated in the city’s trendy Southbank precinct, the mixed-use Shadow Play by Peppers will feature 70 short-stay apartments in both one and two-bedroom configurations across a mammoth 46-floor tower. It is the second Peppers branded hotel in Melbourne following the opening three years ago of Peppers Docklands.
Designed by locally-based architects Elenberg Fraser with interior work by Hecker Guthrie, Shadow Play by Peppers will offer guests a space drawing on contrasts in its colour scheme. Both light and dark upholstery has been used to complement the contrasting white stone and timber surfaces. Each apartment features floor-to-ceiling windows, with many offering views of nearby Port Phillip Bay to the south-east.
Guest spaces will include a spacious lobby which will lead into a main restaurant and Edwin’s Wine Bar & Cellar, which will feature an expansive wine list comprising both local, interstate and international labels.
Higher up on the 46th floor, guests will find a heated swimming pool, sauna and steam room alongside a fitness centre and enclosed garden space with freestanding fireplace. Groups and larger parties will be able to make use of two private dining rooms and guest lounge complete with library.
AccorHotels COO Pacific, Simon McGrath, said he was excited that travellers to the other side of the Yarra River will soon be able to experience the Peppers standard of upmarket style.
“Southbank is in need of a sophisticated luxury hotel product to cater to an increasingly selective global market that is looking for quality, location and facilities of a world-class calibre.”
