Four new General Managers are now in place, having been named by AccorHotels to take charge of properties up and down the three eastern mainland states.
The first to commence was Tim Cannon, named as the new GM at Novotel St Kilda on the Melbourne CBD fringe, effective from 27 August. Cannon takes to the role with an extensive Rooms Management background, kicking off his career at The Little Aspen in Colorado in 2005. From there, in 2007 he moved to Australia and became Assistant Manager at the Westin Sydney, rising to Front Office Manager by 2012. After moving to AccorHotels, he worked at a number of properties in Brisbane and Sydney before shifting south to his current role in Melbourne.
Next to begin was Scott Grant, who is now the General Manager at the Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort effective 22 October. Grant has been with AccorHotels for 12 years, cutting his teeth first in Food & Beverage Management. He has held GM roles at AccorHotels properties in Alice Springs, Sydney, Canberra and Mackay before finding his way to his current role in Cairns.
Dylan Cole is now installed as GM at Novotel Sydney Manly Pacific, commencing on 19 November. Cole has plied his trade in Sydney since joining AccorHotels in 2007. He has spent time at the former Swiss-Grand Resort & Spa in Bondi Beach and the former Menzies Sydney. Most recently he has served in GM roles at ibis Sydney Darling Harbour, the Harbour Rocks Hotel and the Novotel Sydney Darling Harbour.
Last but not least, James Ferguson is now in command at the Quay West Suites Sydney, taking charge from 26 November. Ferguson holds over 25 years experience in hotels, beginning with multiple roles at the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort. His first GM post came at The Sebel Melbourne Flinders Lane in 1997 and he has since held similar roles at Mirvac’s Calypso Plaza and multiple Marriott’s in the Great Barrier Reef, Melbourne and Brisbane. Ferguson moves back into the city in his new role, vacating the exact position now held by the aforementioned Dylan Cole.
