Ownership transactions have concluded for AccorHotels to acquire 100% share capital and full brand use rights for the Movenpick Hotels & Resorts brand as it pertains to hospitality activities, the French hotel giant announced yesterday.
AccorHotels has now fully taken over the Movenpick name, which comprises 84 properties primarily in Asia and Europe, among which are over 20,000 rooms. The brand’s global pipeline of 42 signed or proposed properties is also now in the control of AccorHotels, with all current rooms scheduled to be opened by December 2021.
For members of Le Club AccorHotels, the transaction now brings the Movenpick network into the loyalty program, meaning members can now earn and redeem points at all Movenpick properties. Access to the AccorHotels global distribution network is another element to the transaction.
AccorHotels Chaiman and CEO Sebastien Bazin said he believed the acquisition of Movenpick represented a strategic opportunity to bring new developments to key regions.
“Mövenpick’s European-Swiss heritage and its combination of modernity and authenticity embodied by committed and talented teams fit perfectly with AccorHotels’ core value. Along with our new partners and thanks to our strengthened brand offering further enhancing the variety of experiences available to our clients, we look forward to a rewarding future together.”
